What this code means
F6 E3
Excessive suds.
F6 E3 at a glance
Excessive suds is the potential cause, and the troubleshooting is to remove the suds and perform a clean wash cycle. Foam detected by the sensing system can stop the dishwasher from running normally or from filling.
Common sources of foam
Maytag names three: using laundry detergent, hand soap or hand-washing dish detergent instead of dishwasher detergent; forgetting the rinse aid cap after filling it; and adding too much dishwasher detergent.
Clearing it
- With a plastic cup, remove the suds you can reach.
- Empty the racks, then pour 2-3 tablespoons of vegetable cooking oil into the bottom of the tub.
- Run a full cycle without detergent or dishes.
- Run a second full cycle with detergent in the dispenser cups, still without dishes.
