FC E1 on Maytag cooktops: what the display means and the power reset Maytag recommends.
Model compatibility: Maytag reuses codes across series and model years, so FC E1 may mean something different on another appliance or generation. Confirm this against your model’s documentation and record your full model number before acting.
What this code means
FC E1
FC E1 may mean a problem with the Cooktop User Interface (Touchpad) or the associated wiring.
Reading FC E1
The display message FC E1 appears on Maytag electric and induction cooktops. Maytag says the touchpad (the cooktop’s user interface) or the wiring connected to it may have a problem.
What Maytag suggests
Start with a reset. At the home breaker panel, switch off the breaker(s) feeding the cooktop, wait one minute, and switch them on again. Then keep watching the cooktop for one minute. No FC E1 and normal operation means the reset worked.
Compare with these codes
- FC E4 names the harness between the touchpad and the Induction Module.
- FC RR is a right rear hotplate or wiring code.
