F0 E5
F0 E5 is an off-balance alert: the load is unbalanced or too large.
A load that is lopsided or too big triggers F0 E5. Spin speed drops, so the wash can take longer and the clothes can stay wet.
Top load: recovery
With the error showing, stop the cycle (Start button, or pull the power cord), drain any water with a drain-only cycle, then rearrange or lighten the load. Bulky or Heavy Duty is Maytag’s suggested cycle. When the washer can be paused, press Start, lift the lid, adjust the clothes, and press Start to continue. A finished wash only needing water removed can use Drain & Spin.
Front load: what to look at
- Not dripping? Nothing to do; the washer simply took more time to balance.
- Dripping? Take out a few items and run “Drain & Spin”. Clothes should move freely.
- Washed one bulky thing alone? Pair a rug or jacket with extra garments next time.
