Maytag F7 E1 covers motor speed sensing problems; check shipping bolts and load first.

What this code means
F7 E1
Motor speed sensing error: the motor cannot achieve the correct speed for the cycle (front load); tachometer or basket speed signal fault (top load).
How it differs by washer
- Front load: a motor speed sensing error. The motor cannot get to the speed the chosen cycle needs.
- Top load: the tachometer or basket speed signal is missing or wrong, so the control cannot read the motor speed.
Front load owner steps
- Confirm that all the shipping bolts are gone. There are four, with four plastic spacers, at the rear. Left in place they may produce noise, vibration or codes; the installation instructions explain it.
- Confirm the washer is not overloaded.
- Press Pause or Cancel two times and Power once to clear the code.
- Still there? Disconnect power for 5 minutes, reconnect, reselect the cycle and press Start.
Top load owner step
Maytag lists only the power reset described above.
Other motor and control codes
F7 E0 has no cause listed, F7 E6 is an open motor circuit, and F7 E8 is a motor drive module over temperature.
