LF (or F8 E1) tells you a Maytag top load washer needs too long to fill.
Model compatibility: Maytag reuses codes across series and model years, so LF may mean something different on another appliance or generation. Confirm this against your model’s documentation and record your full model number before acting.
What this code means
LF
LF is a long fill alert, shown as F8 E1 on some displays.
What it is
Fill time is too long. Maytag treats LF and F8 E1 as the same alert on top load washers.
Supply checklist
- Both inlet hoses attached.
- Hot and cold faucets fully open. Water must reach the valve through both hoses.
- Be aware: if the sensors do not see both supplies, a water pressure sensor problem is detected, the lid locks, and the washer pumps out for 8 minutes.
Drain hose checklist
- No more than 4.5″ (113 mm) of hose inside the standpipe, since a deeper hose lets the washer fill and drain together.
- U-shaped form on the hose, fastened to the drainpipe or tub.
- Opening left untaped.
- Standpipe at least 39″ (99 cm) tall.
- No kinks, no blockage in the drainpipe or utility sink.
