FC E3 is a Wi-Fi fault on Maytag over-the-range microwaves; power and router resets come first.
Model compatibility: Maytag reuses codes across series and model years, so FC E3 may mean something different on another appliance or generation. Confirm this against your model’s documentation and record your full model number before acting.
What this code means
FC E3
FC E3 is a connected-appliance Wi-Fi problem: the microwave could not connect to the router.
Short answer
FC E3 = no connection between the microwave and your router. Over-the-range Maytag models are affected.
Things to try
Start by powering the microwave down using the circuit breaker(s). One (1) minute later, power it back up. Look at it for one (1) minute more; if FC E3 stays away, verify operation. Still showing? Reset the router. A smartphone or tablet should work properly when you hold it where the microwave sits. If it does, cut router power for 2 minutes, restore it, and do the same to the microwave.
Weak signal remedies from Maytag: place the router elsewhere in the home, add a compatible signal extender, or call your Internet Service Provider.
Possible sources
Maytag lists a time out, poor signal, a failed router, the appliance Wi-Fi module and wiring.
