- F8 E6

- Washer
Top load Maytag washers show F8 E6 for a lid left open during soak or when no hot water is detected, often because of reversed hoses.
Model compatibility: Maytag reuses codes across series and model years, so F8 E6 may mean something different on another appliance or generation. Confirm this against your model’s documentation and record your full model number before acting.
What this code means
F8 E6
The lid is open during soak, or no hot water was detected, which can happen when the hot and cold hoses are swapped.
Which F8 E6 do you have?
Models differ. Maytag lists two explanations:
- Lid open during the soak cycle: close it and the cycle resumes.
- No hot water detected: follow the tips below.
Hose and valve checks for the no hot water case
- Hoses reversed? The code can indicate that the cold hose sits on the hot inlet and the hot hose on the cold inlet. Reverse the hoses and run another cycle.
- Water off? Fully open both hot and cold valves. Both inlet hoses have to be attached for correct operation.
Power reset
Maytag’s reset for this code is to leave the washer unplugged for 5 minutes and then restore power.
